Presentation

The Mathematical Modeling Laboratory is located in the building of the Faculty of Automotive Engineering, Mechatronics and Mechanics, body E, first floor, room E13b and is used for the applications to the disciplines of the department.

The laboratory has a usable area of 50 square meters, 15 workstations for students equipped with high-performance laptops and internet router for students with individual laptops.

The laboratory is also used for research activities by teachers and PhD students in research contracts and grants, but also to students in the Formula Student Team.

Object of activity

The Mathematical Modeling Laboratory serves the bachelor's and master's degree study cycle for performing applied work with students. They can develop virtual models for simulating the operation of vehicles and their systems.

To carry out the application work, students have access to software products provided on the basis of the university partnership by the following companies: Microsoft, AVL List, IPG Automotive, MathWorks.

Lines of study - License

The laboratory serves the undergraduate study cycles for the specializations, respectively the disciplines:

● Road Vehicles (AR): Processes and Characteristics - Project.

Lines of study - Master

The laboratory serves the master's study cycles for specialization, respectively discipline:

● Automobile and Environment (AM): Alternative Vehicle Propulsion Systems.

● Advanced Techniques in Automotive Engineering (ATAE): Hybrid and Electric Propulsion Systems, Management of internal combustion engines, Theory of automation of vehicle components I and II, Thermal management of vehicles.

● Vehicle Management and Control Systems (SMCA): Basic Control in Vehicle Engineering, Transmission and Control Systems.

Equipment

The Mathematical Modeling Laboratory consists of a network of 15 high-performance laptops and a design system that runs specialized software applications for simulating the operation of vehicles equipped with classic, hybrid and electric motors, etc.

The software applications were provided by AVL List GmbH, Graz, Austria and IPG Automotive GmbH, Karlsruhe, Germany on the basis of a university partnership. These applications are: IPG CarMaker, AVL Boost, AVL Excite, AVL Hydsim, AVL Fire, AVL Cruise, AVL Impress Chart, AVL Design Explorer.
